The only awards dedicated to the work of freelance cameramen and camerawomen in news and current affairs are now OPEN FOR ENTRIES!

Freelancers worldwide are invited to submit work in the following categories:

RORY PECK AWARD FOR NEWS
Honours the work of freelance cameramen and camerawomen in the coverage of one news event where the focus is on the immediacy of the story.
Duration: up to 10 minutes.

Broadcast news packages and agency feeds/un-voiced pieces are accepted in this category. Portfolio pieces and raw un-edited rushes are not accepted.

RORY PECK AWARD FOR NEWS FEATURES
Honours the work of freelance cameramen and camerawomen in news features that look beyond the immediacy of the news.
Duration: up to 30 minutes

Entries will have been broadcast within an online news platform, broadcast news programme or current affairs magazine programme.

SONY IMPACT AWARD FOR CURRENT AFFAIRS
Honours the work of freelance cameramen and camerawomen in long-form current affairs that examines a single issue, story or situation and makes an impact on the viewer.
Duration: up to 60 minutes

Entries will have been broadcast as stand-alone films or as one of a programme strand.

Across all categories the awards recognise quality of camerawork, but also take into account individual endeavour and journalistic integrity.

We welcome self-funded work and entries from freelancers living and working in regions where it may be difficult to operate. The Awards are free to enter.

Entries must have been broadcast (television, agency feed, recognised online news publisher) between 1 July 2016 and 30 June 2017.

Find out more about previous finalists and winners at the Awards website.
