Assistance grantsRPT offers individual grants to freelance newsgatherers and/or their families who find themselves in a critical situation. This includes freelancers who have been threatened, imprisoned or injured, forced into hiding or exile, or killed.
How we helpOur assistance grants are modest but they are targeted so that they meet the specific needs of the freelancer or family. Amounts and target areas vary according to the particular circumstances of the applicant, but examples include medical and rehabilitation costs, emergency subsistence, legal, advice, and relocation costs. Our aim is to help grantees overcome a crisis, and where possible, return to work.
